No photo Monday
Why is it that on my week off work, when I had time to work on my photo projects, there was only a few hours of blue sky and sunshine (yesterday!), but now I'm back at work there's been perfect light all day? Probably the same mysterious forces at work in Tesco this evening when I saw a man at the till buying six boxes of Tampax, eight jars of strawberry jam, six bags of sugar, six boxes of cereal... and more, but he noticed me staring so I went back to packing my own bags. The world can be a peculiar place.

I believe in the BBC

Good old Auntie Beeb (well, Richard, actually) has put an article about LomoManchester on the Mancunian part of the website. This is quite exciting, really. There are more mini-exhibition ideas on the cards too, so this is bound to help. Hooray!

The simple ideas are the best

It's six years ago now, but I remember the evening of the John Lewis High Wycombe 10th birthday party as if it were last week. Unfortunately, at the end of the evening about 300 people were turfed out onto the streets of a town with not enough taxis, so we decided to walk home. On the plus side, it was only two miles and we were drunk... but it was uphill and all three of us were wearing heels. You'd think we might have come up with an idea like this after walking the last mile and a half barefoot, but no.
EDIT: Lovely photo by Topper, not me. Sorry.

I love the internet

Isn't it great when someone just sends you an email to say you have your very own Googlewhack? A real one this time too. Yay!

But, is it art?

Blast from the past?

This postcard is about 10 years old. It was sent for no reason, kept for no reason and scanned for no reason. So I thought I'd share it with you... for no reason.

Back to the Lomo

Last Wednesday I went along to the launch party for the latest exhibition at Urbis, with a crowd from LomoManchester. It was a great night (despite not being invited to take any shots for the exhibition itself), but I was shocked when I got my photos back from that evening. I've forgotten how to use my LC-A! This is one of the good ones, but I only scanned eleven out of 36, and only really like 3 of those. Maybe I'm not any worse and my SLR experience has just shown me how much better photos can be. Still, I had fun taking them.
UPDATE: Check out my cameras for sale on eBay. I have too many and need some cash back!

Night shots

And, there's more. Was it just luck, or am I actually getting good at this photography lark?

The Manchester Eye?

I was out in town last night taking photos of Manchester's newest (sadly temporary) attraction, in all its sparkly glory. I decided against borrowing Topper's digital SLR to make me feel a bit more relaxed about going it alone, and so you can't see the results until I finish the film and visit a one hour lab today. It also means I have no idea how they've came out. Only got hassled by one drunken chav who was eyeing up the camera, but that was a bit of a surprise seeing as it was only 6.30pm. Maybe he just speaks like that anyway.

Monkey mode

I'm not going to blog about the obvious, because everyone else will do that better. I will simply say that Donkey Konga is ace and point you in the direction of some fab new Holga shots on my lomohome. That is all.
